A documented residential project showing how foundation layout, underground plumbing and sewer work support every construction phase that follows.
Project overview
This Chino project began with the building footprint, excavation and wood formwork visible in the opening photograph. Before concrete, the underground plumbing and sewer route had to align with the planned rooms, fixture locations and foundation layout.
The photographs continue through reinforcement, slab placement, wall framing, sheathing, exterior stucco and a finished interior. Together they show why an ADU is not a collection of isolated trades: each phase depends on the location, quality and documentation of the work completed before it.
The street address is intentionally omitted for homeowner privacy. Project requirements, permits, inspections, utilities, finishes and pricing vary by property and approved scope.
Construction sequence
These photographs document consecutive project milestones without exposing the homeowner’s address.

Drain, waste and vent piping was positioned within the excavated foundation layout before reinforcement and concrete concealed the work.

The underground route was opened so the sewer and related utility work could be installed, reviewed and protected before backfill.

Formwork, reinforcement, penetrations and under-slab systems were brought together before the concrete placement phase.

The finished slab established the footprint and a level structural base for the walls and the next phase of construction.

Exterior walls defined the building perimeter, openings and structural layout above the completed concrete foundation.

Interior partitions organized the rooms and created the pathways needed for coordinated building systems and finishes.

Roof framing, wall sheathing, windows and the exterior door advanced the structure toward a weather-protected enclosure.

The exterior wall assembly progressed through the stucco base-coat phase around windows, doors, roof edges and penetrations.

Flooring, paint, trim, electrical finish and the ceiling fan completed the documented interior transformation.
What this project demonstrates
Every ADU has its own plans, utility conditions and inspection requirements. The same principle still applies: verify the concealed work before covering it and build each new phase from the accepted work below it.
The footprint and planned rooms establish where foundations and under-slab systems belong.
Plumbing and sewer work must be coordinated before the slab makes those locations difficult to change.
Reinforcement, concrete, framing and sheathing work together as connected structural phases.
Roofing, windows and exterior wall assemblies protect the work that becomes the finished interior.
